The Val di Mello is considered the monument of Italian climbing, the most frequented bouldering area in northern Italy with the most important sport climbing event in the world, the Melloblocco, today is in danger. The risk is that it becomes an open dump if we do not change the way we behave. The waste produced by human activity, which too often ignores the damage it produces, accumulates under the stones, among the most hidden cracks and near the streams of water, transforming these spaces into Waste Spot. An old saying states: go with the lame and learn to limp! It is not strange then if over the years in Val di Mello the carcasses of plastic bottles, tape for the fingers, old items of clothing, cigarette butts and many other materials that are often much more dangerous and polluting have increased. A positive note is given by the voluntary cleaning service created by some local climbers who, due to environmental awareness and love for nature, have chosen to marry the cause and, at their expense, have cleaned not only the stones from the moss but also from the waste. Their work has allowed us all to take advantage of these environments. Not only the only ones to take care of the Valley, another thanks goes to the Alpine Guides of the Val di Mello who, over the years have tried to transmit the principles of protection and environmental protection to the young, building real ecological days aimed at clean natural spaces. If the Val di Mello is considered a magical place, we can not afford to make it disappear, to turn it into a Waste Valley. Roll up our sleeves and find a way to let everyone know about this problem, because the Val di Mello is unique and so must remain. Just a few simple actions are enough to change the future of the Valley. Climbers from all over the world, Val di Mello must be saved and with it the value of this discipline, this year Melloblocco 2018 could be the right time. NO MORE WASTE IN THE VALLEY.
